About this widget
The Olivtwig Budget Tracker turns a corner of your Notion page into a working household ledger. Set what you plan to spend this month, then type each expense straight into the embed — an amount, a short note, done. The number at the top is the one that matters: what you have left. A bar underneath shows how much of the budget is gone, and the entries stack up below in the order you added them. Everything syncs through the cloud, so the same figures show on your laptop and your phone, and the month rolls over on its own at your local midnight.
Why keep a budget inside Notion
Most budgeting lives somewhere you have to go to: an app you open on purpose, a spreadsheet you remember on the 28th. A Notion page is somewhere you already are. Putting the number where you already look is most of what makes a budget work — you see what's left while you're deciding, not after.
It is deliberately small. There are no categories, no charts, no import from your bank. One budget, one running total, and the handful of entries that got you there. If you need a full ledger, Notion's own database is better at it; this is for the glance.
How the month works
The widget shows the current month, worked out from your device's clock rather than stored anywhere. When the month turns, the total resets to zero and the list empties out — but nothing is deleted. Last month's total appears underneath as a line you can compare against, and the entries behind it stay in the record.
Because the month comes from the clock, a widget left open in a Notion page nobody reloads rolls over by itself at your local midnight. There is no reset button to remember and no first-of-the-month ritual.
Budget, currency, and entries
Everything is editable from inside the embed — you never have to come back to this page.
- The budget
- Click the amount next to the bar to change it. Leave the box empty to clear it, and the widget goes back to simply totalling what you have spent.
- Currency
- The button in the top right switches between ₩, $, € and ¥. Korean pages start on won and English pages on dollars; decimals follow the currency, so won and yen show whole numbers.
- Entries
- An amount is required, a note is optional. Type 12,000 or 12000 — the separators are ignored. Each row has a delete button beside it.
- Over budget
- Spend past the budget and the headline switches from what's left to how far over you are, with the bar full. No colour alarm, just the number.

How to embed in Notion

Open any Notion page, type /embed, and select the Embed block from the menu.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Budget Tracker widget free?
Yes. Like every other free Olivtwig widget it needs no signup or login — copy the embed URL from the gallery card and paste it into Notion.
Where are my entries stored?
In Olivtwig's cloud, against the id in your embed URL — which is why the same figures show on every device that opens the page. Anyone who can see the Notion page can also see and edit the widget, so treat it as being as private as the page it sits in.
What happens at the end of the month?
The widget starts the new month at zero on its own, at your local midnight. Nothing is thrown away: last month's total is shown underneath the list for comparison.
Can I track categories or income?
Not in this widget — it is deliberately one budget and one list, so it stays readable in a small embed. For categories, income, and reporting, a Notion database is the better tool.
Which currencies are supported?
Korean won, US dollars, euros and Japanese yen, switchable from the button inside the widget. Amounts are stored as plain numbers, so switching currency relabels them rather than converting them.
