About this widget

The Olivtwig Today's Date widget shows the current date and day of the week, refreshing automatically every day. Embed the URL once into a Notion page and the widget keeps itself in sync forever — no signup, no extension, no install. It reads the visitor's local date so the value is always correct regardless of where the page is opened from. Designed as the smallest possible time anchor for journal pages, daily standups, or any Notion page where 'what day is it?' is the first question.

Why an auto-updating date widget in Notion

Notion has dates inside databases and properties, but typing today's date at the top of a fresh page every morning is tedious. The Today widget removes that friction — the date is always correct, always visible, and never something you have to maintain. For daily journals, recurring meeting pages, or any template you copy frequently, the embedded date is a self-keeping anchor.

How it stays in sync

The widget reads the date from the visitor's browser, formatted by their locale (English or Korean). It refreshes at the day boundary in the visitor's timezone, so collaborators in different parts of the world see the right local date on the same Notion page. No server tick required — the page itself drives the update on each load.

Where it earns its place

Today's Date is small but earns prime real estate at the top of recurring pages.

Daily journal
Sit it above the day's free-form section so the date is the first thing you read every morning.
Standup template
Use as the header of your daily standup notes — every team member sees the same date.
Meeting log
Drop into a meeting-notes template so each new copy is correctly dated without typing.
Daily check-in
Anchor a 'today I want to…' habit page so the day is always visible.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Today's Date widget free?

Yes. Every Olivtwig widget — including Today's Date — is free to use, with no signup or login required.

Does the date update by itself?

Yes. The widget reads the current date from the visitor's browser on load, so it's always correct without you doing anything.

Will it show the right date for collaborators in other timezones?

Yes. Each visitor sees the date in their own local timezone, so collaborators across regions all see the correct local day.

Is the format different in English vs Korean?

Yes. The widget formats the date and weekday using the visitor's locale — Korean visitors see Korean month names and weekdays, English visitors see the English versions.

Can I customize the format?

Not at the moment. The widget intentionally keeps a single clean format per locale to stay readable inside small Notion embed blocks.
